Elizabeth & John Paul Baron serve as 2nd District House Pages

Olympia -- Elizabeth and John Paul Baron, of Roy, served as House Pages the week of Jan. 28 - Feb.1. The sister and brother are children of Christopher and Laura Baron of Roy. Chris and Laura Baron have 11 adopted children from all over the world, in addition to the three sons they raised. In the last few years, Laura Barton has been dealing with ovarian cancer, for which her community came together to help the family with medical costs and emotional support.
 
Elizabeth and John Paul were sponsored by Rep. Tom Campbell (R-2nd District), who said he was pleased to have the two Barons serve in the House. He said they did an outstanding job, and he hopes to be able to sponsor one or two more of the Baron siblings this session. The 60-day session concludes on March 13.

House Pages serve  in the Legislature for one week, performing a wide variety of tasks as they assist legislators and staff, distributing bills and amendments to member offices and the House floor, and sometimes they are chosen to present the flag in the opening of sessions each day.
 
It's really a good opportunity for young people to experience our state government," Campbell said. "It's a learning experience that teaches students the significance of our governmental process."
