Subject: Video internship position for the 2012 Legislative Session

An exempt, temporary internship position is available for the 2011 legislative session in the Washington State House of Representatives Video Services Department.  This position provides a unique opportunity in a lively setting.  Legislative footage (shot and edited by House Video staff) appears frequently on the web, commercial television newscasts, and government access stations around the state.   The videographer will work on weekly Legislative Update programs airing in over 40 cities, as well as videotape House Floor Debates, Committees and other events on the Capitol Campus.

The ideal candidate is skilled, responsible, efficient, attentive to detail and able to make a commitment to the job.  Applicants should be able to work well in a team setting.

The intern will perform videographer and general production assistant duties and must already have experience in these areas. An opportunity to strengthen professional skills will be provided by knowledgeable crew members and will include training on and extensive use of a camera, teleprompter and related equipment.

The intern must be an enrolled student or a recent graduate.  Legislative interns are compensated only with academic credit if they choose.  Course credit will be determined by the student's faculty sponsor, and amount of credit to be earned and other academic requirements are determined by the schools.

The House Video Services is a non-partisan support staff within the House Administration under the supervision of the Chief Clerk of the House of Representatives.

The position begins January 3rd and concludes March 8, 2012.  Hours are approximately 8:00 a.m. to 5:00 p.m. Monday through Friday in Olympia, WA.
