JLARC will present the results of its work in progress on Objective 2 of this study: findings related to mechanisms for stimulating local investment in effective prevention programs for at risk youth. The completed At Risk Youth study will examine prevention programs for At Risk youth that have been proven effective by rigorous outcome evaluations and that have produced savings or were cost neutral to the state budget. The study has two objectives: 1) identify and describe these programs operating in Washington and 2) evaluate mechanisms that may be used to stimulate local jurisdiction investment in effective programs. The final report is due in September 2005.
