Youth Resources to honor Rep. Tom Campbell on June 22

SPANAWAY -- On Wednesday, June 22, the Youth Resources in Spanaway will honor Rep. Tom Campbell (R-2nd District) for his success in obtaining $400,000 in the state Capital Budget for the Youth Resources and Youth Drop-in Center in Spanaway and Parkland.

Helen Myrick, president of the Board for Youth Resources, said the annual meeting will recognize Campbell for his work on behalf of homeless youth in Pierce County. They will also recognize former homeless youth who now serve on the Youth Board.

“We will show our appreciation to Rep. Campbell for all he does on behalf of homeless youth in the 2nd District and also for the $400,000 he was able to get us toward our $1 million capital campaign fund to build the first-ever Homeless Youth Center in Pierce County,” Myrick said.

“We will also have a wonderful skateboard demonstration by the skateboarding group “Guiding Idle Hands,” Myrick added.

The noon meeting at ‘The Edge’ (the temporary Youth Center in Spanaway) will also include a brief annual report on the youth program. ‘The Edge’ is behind the Word of Life Church at 156th & Pacific in Spanaway.
