Campbell's Veteran's tax exemption bill passed the House Finance Committee
OLYMPIA -- A bill giving disabled Veterans the same property tax relief on their homes as is now provided to senior citizens with an income below $25,000 unanimously passed the House Finance Committee, today.
Rep. Tom Campbell (R-Roy) was encouraged by the 9-0 vote in committee and expects the bill to move quickly through the House and Senate this week, as the 2005 session prepares to conclude by Sunday, April 24.
"I've been working on this bill for about five years, and I'm so pleased it is being favorably received this session," Campbell said.
House Bill 1019 provides veterans of the U.S. armed forces with 100 percent service-connected disability the same property tax relief on their homes as is now provided to senior citizens with income below $25,000.
In addition, disabled veterans will be exempt on all excess levies.
