Town Hall Meetings Scheduled

Rep. Tom Campbell (R-Roy) has scheduled four 2nd District Town Hall Meetings in June to talk to constituents about the recently concluded 2005 legislative session. "These events are the heart of representative government," Campbell said. "It gives me a chance to talk to and hear from the people I represent. I want to know what they are concerned about and how we can work together to make things happen in Olympia."

Campbell comes off a very successful legislative session in which he passed a major law to diffuse the growing epidemic of methamphetamine manufacture and use (HB 2266) and, as a member of the House Transportation Committee, he worked to gain $133 million for the 2nd District in the transportation budget, including the Cross-Base Highway, the Yelm Loop Road, the Orting Bridge and the Elbe Rest Stop.

His Veterans' tax exemption bill (HB 1019) was signed into law, giving disabled veterans the same property tax exemption as seniors; and revenue for a number of projects in the Capital Budget included money for the Bridge for Kids on Orting's Carbon River; the Spanaway Youth Center/Drop-In Center; the Eatonville water-filtration system and Eatonville Park .
