Ballou Jr. High student serves as House Page

Olympia - Kaitlyn Schlegel, an eighth-grader at Ballou Jr. High School, Puyallup, has completed her stint as a Page for the state House of Representatives. Kaitlyn was sponsored by Rep. Tom Campbell (R-2nd District). Kaitlyn is the daughter of Gerald and Nancy Schlegel of Puyallup. House Pages serve for one week in the Legislature, performing a wide variety of tasks as they assist legislators and staff, including distributing bills and amendments to members offices and on the House floor, and sometimes presenting the flags in the daily opening of session.

"It's really a good opportunity for young people to experience our state government," Campbell said. "It's a learning opportunity that teaches students the significance of our government process."
